Hello all,
I have been using treatment for my water before putting it in the tank. It removes clorine, ammonia, nitrates, ect. Someone told me that All I needed to do to de-clorinate my water was to leave it out overnight with a bubbler in that. I'm somewhat skeptical of the idea but I never liked putting chemicals in the water either. So I am curious if others are using this method. Let me know what you guys think!!!
thanks!

Leaving it out overnight will let the chlorine gas off but not chloromine (I think, may have mixed those) and it doesn't get rid of the trace metals either.
I'd keep using the dechlorinator. :)

Cool thanks...I figured there was more to it than that.

Chloramines are a fairly new addition to our drinking supply so in the old days before chloramines were used in the drinking supply then gassing off the chlorine which breaks down easily would be fine.

Chloramines are formed by bonding chlorine and ammonia and are much harder to break down and won't just gas off or break down so easily so they will still be present in the water if you do as you suggested

We have a swimming pool at home and I'm always being told it is the chloramine is an irritant, toxic  and can also react with rubbers like seals, hoses which I imagine won't be very good for you filter if you have rubber sealing rings.

I would always make sure your treatment states that it breaks down both chlorines and chloramines to be safe.
