I have been keeping tropical fish for a few months and over that time the water level has dropped... i have been told that adding bottled natural spring water works but i am not sure of this.
please give me some advice on how to add more water
thanks
Joe

Hi welcome to the forum! As part of keeping your tank you need to do water changes once a week anyway so adding water should be a pretty normal thing for you to do. If water is going out of your tank its probably due to evaporation, all you need to do is get some dechlorinator from your local pet store and mix it according to the instructions with tap water at a similar temperature to your tank. Pretty easy really :)

What size tank do you have and what fish do you have?

Do you perform water changes on this tank at all? You may need to look at the begginers FAQ section to see about basic fishkeeping maintenance.

Water from your tap is fine, just add some dechlorinator from the fish shop by following the instructions on the bottle.

Edit: Wills beat me to it ;)

Yes, that just kick starts new tanks. Tetra Aquasafe is the Tetra version of the dechlorinator.

thanks i shall use that now then :) thanks for all the help

ah ok il go get some aqua safe tomomrow then

i wont use safe start....

its not ive just read over the bottle again and this is just for starting the tanks cycle

Yes, that is a dechlorinator.

You sure? I think this is just a bacteria boost type product. You need aquasafe not safe start.

Oops... my bad. lol I just woke up.

I changed it.

Products that "claim" to cycle tanks are no good. They simply do not provide what is needed to cycle the tank in the time they are put on sale.

Cycling a tank is the foundation for any tank, no matter what.

Since you already have fish, read this article here:
