hello:

how do you use JBL Biotopol Plus and Denitrol for a Tropical Water tank?
JBL website does not explain clearly at all.

FIRST SCENARIO
* i added some Biotopol Plus to water and introduced fish.
* waited for around 3 hours and added Denitrol.
* as soon as food is added, water becomes white CLOUDY.
* fish cannot breathe and have to be rescued into another tank.
* after water clears up, and the fish survive in same tank,
i add food after 1 week, the water becomes cloudy again.

ANOTHER SCENARIO
* fish in rescue tank.
* added Biotopol Plus for water conditioning.
* as soon as food was added, water became cloudy.
* had to change water immediately to save fish that cannot breathe.

RESCUE TANK
* simple tank with not too cold water.
* tap water treatment added.
- with TETRA AQUASAFE, no PROBLEM
- with BIOTOPOL PLUS and FOOD, water is CLOUDY.

* tested water for AMMONIA and NITRITES, no PROBLEM.

whats going on?

have a nice day,

Aaron

what is it meant to do? it is a water conditioner? (sorry - havent heard of it before)

This was taken from the JBI Biotopol advert on the web using Google search

Dechlorinator and water conditioner.

For countries with high chlorine / chloramine levels.
For initial water with high chlorine content.
Removes harmful chloramine from mains water.
Immediately neutralises toxic heavy metals and chlorine. Vitamin B complex proven to reduce stress in fish.
Renders heavy metals such as lead, copper, zinc etc. harmless.

JBL Biotopol plus converts tap water immediately and permanently into biotopically suitable aquarium water. With B-complex skin protection factor.

Hello Aaron,
Aquasafe does the same job as JBI Biotopol, i peronally use this and works fine for me. As for Denitrol this is a bacterial enhancer which will no doubt tell you that it will take care of toxins(ammonia/nitrite). I have never used this product so i can't say it will work BUT most of the members on here would advise you to do a Fish in cycle now that you have fish.

Skins.

P.S You could keep fish in rescue tank and do a fishless cycle in your main tank.

click on the links below Aaron for info on fish in cycle and fishless cycle.

Hope this helps, Skins.

Unfortunately, I think Denitrol is the german variation of the typical useless bacteria-in-a-bottle products. We've had members report non-success with it I believe. A nice slow fishless cycle can create an awesome biofilter for creating a great first environment for freshwater tropical fish and our members are great at helping newcomers recieve all the latest tips we know to help this process along. The Nitrogen Cycle and other cycling articles in our Beginners Resource Center are great starting points for this.
