Water Changes

Hey all,
The whole time i have been fish keeping, i have never really got a definitive answer for how much water to change,
With my new 230L tank with:
13 black teta,
6 corydoras julii,
4 zebra loaches,
I usually do about 10% water change a week, but everywhere i look on the internet there's always a few people who say "25% is a bare minimum" but I have also been told to do 10% a week.
Im hoping someone with good experience on the forum can tell me, what to actually do, my weekly water change is coming up tomorrow, so i would be really grateful if someone could say by then.

Your tank seems quite lightly stocked so I would think 10% would be fine. No doubt if you add more fish you could up it a bit.

I think it depends on other factors. If your Nitrates remain low and fish remain healthy then 10% is fine. If you have higher Nitrates then you need to do more. I think the 25% thing is just a basic guidline for newbies.

If in doubt go as big as you'd like...

In my main tank I have greedy young growing sevs and geos which I feed quite a bit. In my 125L tank I have fry which are fed fairly often and are messy blighters.

In both tanks I do approx 40-50% water changes each week for good measure, this helps with both growth and healing of any wounds from disagreements.

Thank you all, i feel less negligent now , I will definately use tests more often now to determine how much from now on
