Add the water as closly matched to the temp of the tank as possible.

Every time you do a water change add tap safe before you add the water back to the tank.

Hello and welcome to the forum. :hi:

As mentioned, all you really need to do is get it close by feel unless you are doing large water changes (50% or more). In that case you would need to try to get it as close as you can. If you use buckets, it's pretty easy to get it to the temp you want by just running some hot water in the bucket. I actually seem to have more problems in the summer than any other time as the water from the cold tap is around 82 degrees so I have to float an ice bag in the bucket if I need to cool it down.

You should always add dechlorinator any time you add water. The other "bacteria in a bottle" products are pretty useless in most cases. They don't do any harm but don't do any good either unless you're the person selling it and then it makes you money.
