How often do you change the water in a 2.5 gallon tank? I realize the more the better on the one hand, but on the other hand by betta is severely stressed out by them. Thanks.

My bettas are in 3g's each, and I do 50% water changes weekly.

Do you remove yours when you do a water change?

One of mine gets stressed out big time, but he needs it cleaning as he perks up afterwards. I tend to syphon half the water out and he doesnt seem to notice. Then put clean same temp etc water back in by tipping it on to a saucer so it doesnt disturb the water. There is nothing in bottom of his tank. just got his bridge that he rests on or under. :good:

I do take her out when I do partial water changes (obviously I take her out for whole water changes :) ), because she totally flips out when there is any movement in the tank. She seems pretty calm in her little cup while I take care of business, but goes kind of nuts when she gets back into the tank (especially if i move any of her decorations).

I have to say, the saucer thing sounds like a pretty good idea. Maybe I'll try that, thanks.
