I've got a massive tank now, and starting off with fishless cycling this time around. Just wondering about the best way to do large water changes. I filled the tank originally with a hosepipe, and had the dechlorinator in the tank already when I filled it. Thinking about doing the water changes now, and am wondering about the best way to do it.
On the back of my bottle of dechlorinator (I forget the brand and I'm at work at the moment
) it says that you can remove the water for the change, then add the amount of dechlorinator to treat the volume of water you have just removed, and then top up from the tap. This is what I've been doing for my current tank, which has been running well for just under a year with no problems. I just wonder if this is a decent way of doing it or whether you would suggest otherwise?
How do you do your water changes? Loads and loads of bucketfuls? Or can I just add enough dechlorinator to treat the volume I've taken out for the water change and then fill from the hosepipe? I can't see it being a problem doing it that way, but I just thought I'd ask...would hate to destroy my cycle!
