Only had new tank a couple of weeks wanted to do a water change every week but I don't have any thing big enough to hold the water (to treat and heat) before I put it in. I used to use 2 buckets for my nano 55l but for my trigon 190 doing 25% change is about 47l

Should I take into account loss from sand and bogwood ECT and change about 40l ??

U could make two trips with the bucket! When I have to change slightly more than my bucket holds I usually take the thermometer out of the tank add cold and hot water as a guess and see if that's right and add abit more hot or cold accordingly! Then treat the water pour it in then do a second trip! Abit more bother than if u hada bigger bucket but works for me!!!
Or as many as needed in ur case unless you can get a bigger bucket or something that'll hold more water that you'll still be able to shift!! Someone with a bigger tank may come up with a better suggestion.

I thought hot tap water was bad for the tanks as its water that sits in the boiler and is less pure ??? I may be mistaken

Oh I forgot the python! Have a look on eBay they ship from the states can't really seem to find them over here! Also means ud have to treat entire tank so more costly on dechlorinator! Also my hot water runs from the same tank however I thought this, did read up on it and loads of people have done this with no problem! They say u shouldn't drink it because yes it does sit there but from the hot tap the hot water should kill any bacteria that's in it once heated. The cold water will likely hold bacteria from what I gather!
Which is why they say u shouldnt drink it.

I refill my tank with "warm" water directly from the tap with a python I built myself. It's fine - but then I have a combi boiler not a water tank so that may make a difference.

Why don't you just buy more buckets? You can get 3 x 15L buckets from Screwfix for £16.00. Empty into your buckets all at once, empty them and refill with warm water from the tap. OR build a python :p

There's a couple of tutorials on this site somewhere. I'll see if I can find them.

The standard size bucket is about 10l so you're just filling up 4-5 for your water change. If you're changing regularly you should be able to get away with 40l though. Remember you'll lose water with the substrate, rocks etc so that would be fine.

25% of my tank is just over 7 10l buckets!
And I also have a mixer tap so can get the temperature fairly close.

Get yourself to wilkinsons 15l and only a £1 I got stack load cuts water changes in half (apart from when you drop a bucket coming down the stairs but that's another story).
