i'm not sure why some people do not use water from the hot tap. i always have, and from what i can tell, i have not suffered. though it may be a hang over from the days of having to boil all water that goes in the tank. boiling and standing also help get rid of chlorine, lol well standing does.

There is caution against using hot tap water because a lot of water heaters have (or maybe used to have) copper pipes and lining. I have never had any issue though.

Hot water has much lower oxygen saturation than cold water, so best to use cold if possible, although if you have sufficient surface agitation, the water will become oxygenated soon enough.

I would be wary of using hot water for large water changes for this reason as it may have an effect on the fish immediately.

Just make sure you dont burn the fish.
