Hey all.

I have a slight problem.

I need to perform a water change (Ive only ever done it once and that was with no fish.)

I was wondering if I should remove this fish from the tank before Changing the water and the re-introduce them.

The thing is I do have a water pump however I forgot to buy batteries with it so I have to do it manually... i.e. with a cup haha

Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi Danny
Just leave the guppies in while you waterchange. If you have no working pump yet then a cup is fine. Literally just remove 50% of the water and add fresh with the correct amount of stresscoat. This time of year you can use cold water as long as you replace it a cup or jug at a time, slowly does it. In cold weather boil water and mix it with cold until it feels the same temperature as the tank. Don't forget to turn off your filter and heater while you are changing the water:

1. To prevent you getting an electric shock

2. To prevent your heater exploding and filter making a very strange noise

Then once water change is done, turn the filter and heater back on.

No need to take the fish out.

Taking it out and putting it somewhere else and then reintroducing it will only put more stress on the fish.

Thank you so much :)

Its just my Guppies are very active and love to swim to the top when I'm around (probably thinking Im going to feed them haha)

Also another question.

I only have a 25L tank, however on the bottle it says to put in 5ml per 38L...

So should I do roughly 2.5ml for my 50% water change? or just do the 5ml?

sorry I'm not that clued up just yet... still getting there you see :)

Just 2ml should be enough. Only condition the amount of water you are changing. :good:
