I bought a siphon for my water change but somebody threw out the instructins. I need to change the water cuz it's getting dirty, all I have is this tube attached to this cylinder thingy...
I'm confused! Can somebody please help?

What make is it and is it a hand one or electric.

To get it started you just pull it up and down fast in the water.

Place cylinder end in tank and hose end in a bucket, which needs to be lower than the tank, so either the floor or a chair depending on how high your tank is. To get the suction going all you need is to get the water to flow through the pipe, which will happen if you hold the cylinder level underwater and lift it up to get the water running through into bucket, then dip it down. Do this a couple of times and then keep it underwater; should flow of its own. If you want to move the vac around or dislodge gravel from it, just place your thumb over the bucket end of the pipe until you want the flow to start again.
