Was This A Good Deal?

im not bad at wood work and do have a little bit of wood kicking around..
what ill do is sit on the stand for and see if it creaks
i could probably fit a triangle from to the back and sides to give it extra support

The stand has a shelf about 6 inches from the bottom, which sits on support beams which go right round the legs giving more support. Its amazing how strong it is.
Pippoodle, fifefish only paid just over a tenner for the tank and filter so theres no point in going too expensive for a stand if he can save some money. Although I must admit I had assumed the actual stands would have been dearer than they actually are.

I missed a good setup last night on ebay 2ft tank with everything just needed water and fish 99p could,nt believe it and it was only about 25miles away maybe a tenner in diesel

i got a full 126L set up £10 from the car boot and it came with over £30 worth of bog wood am going to make my own stand has a external filter so want doors on it so u cant see it fence post should do the trick it dont matter if ya cant see them is what a think and got a couple kicking about cant w8 to get it up and running

or and nice wood work a will have to post some pics of mine once its done

ive added a strut to the back of the stand..
i sat on top of the tank listened for creaking..
didn't hear a thing, sat for 10 mins or so just to make sure..

I take it you bought the one from ikea in the end?
You will have to post pictures of the tank and stand so we can see how it looks.

personally i would beef up the vertical seperator the full depth with some 1/2" thick MDF either side cut to fit as tight as you can and add a second diagonal brace on the rear to be safe but it should stand up ok. just try not to spill too much water on it as it could lose all its strength.

oh and it is a good deal, i paid £50 for one from my lfs a couple of months ago :)
