Was Thinking Of Getting A Betta.

Yeah, they are lovable. They're smarter than a fifth grader too. Mine even comes to the glass when called. I know how strange that sounds but it's true. I say his name every time I feed him and he'll come to his name now. They are very capable of returning loving feelings. Oh, and I've heard of them living 5 years +. Hope I got one of those magic bettas!

It's not strange, my Darby does the same thing!
Every time he catches me watching him, he' swims right over to say hello. Rather frustrating when I'm trying to catch him in the act of building a bubble nest.

A couple of tips if you decide to get one Wilder- Acclimate them VERY slowly to their new environment. I had Darby floating in his bag for a hour, every fifteen minutes adding a few tablespoons of the tank water so he could adjust.
Also, slowing the current is a snap if you use a bit of pop bottle plastic over the output. Your new betta will thank you for it. Darby really got blown around when I first added him to my 10g tank with its hanging filter, adding to the stress.
They love having plants to swim around, sleep on and build bubble nests over. Darby also has a barrel decoration that he sleeps in.
I think having them nearby whatever place in your house you spend the most time in is really good for them. Darby recognizes me and reacts positively to my presence, and he loves it when I talk to him.
