Warf Aquatics

Wharf are reputed to be the best aquatic center in the country.
i really must go up there and see for myself one day

You should definitely take a visit, Ive heard of people travelling over 250 miles just to go there!

I'm supposed to be lucky for living near, the only complaint i have is that it is always packed. when it first was said at the best i didn't think so but now its been revamped it is good i think they have a good selection with knowledgeable staff. And a very nice owner, They had the illegal Glo-Fish You can make your own opinions of that. i don't think they have much that is Different or unusual and i have had a few dodgy fish. They have a stock list on the site but it is always changing and the often run out. Saying all this its a good fishstore.

And they have a new website ..... I give them 9.5/10

ill try and remeber or use the website to contact, may be cheaper as they sell the L260 at £19.99 that i think is very good, i will make a note and check, probs be in the cory section for a while lol,,, also in the koi part.... Cant wait lol...

Have heard alot of good reports about wharf but unfortunately theres none in northern ireland, if im ever near one in england ill pay a visit.

Yeah ive heard good things about them, and being in nottingham they are only a short trip up the motorway and across a bit, not far at all really and yet ive never been, now youve reminded me im half tempted to go tomorrow, ive never been on the motorway on my own though, went on it once for pass plus and thats it and yes i know its like one of the easiest forms of driving so :p

Well im a man of my word, went there today! Took a wrong turn once i got into pinxton though and got losts but after a couple of minutes driving i found the place, and what a place it is! ITS MASSIVE, there are so many tanks of fish i didnt know which way to look, massive tropical room, massive coldwater room, massive marine room and even a room with reptiles and spiders and such. Amazing selection of big fish too, there display tank is massive and has got some huge fish in it, ie arrowana, red tailed cat etc. But yeah if you would fairly big sized fish then this is the place for you, they had arrowanas, about 4 types of knife fish, lungfish, wolf fish, various cichlids, lots of different large catfish and plecs etc etc etc, the list goes on a long way. They good an excellent selection of smaller fish though, woulda been nice if they had some freshwater inverts apart from the blue lobster though but apart from that there selection was great. Ok my rant is over, i did pick myself up a pair of apistogramms cacatuoides which im very pleased with, £14.95 for the pair seemed a bit steep though? Saying that the only other place ive seen then near me they looked alot less healthy than these ones, i got a great looking male and female so im happy :D

I went today as well, you might have seen me there ;)

I was ery interested in the transparent knifefish they had in one of the smaller tanks, just researched it though, and found out it can get to quite a size, so I'm quite glad I didnt get it.

They had amano shrimps in as well today!

I'm in Notts as well, which stores do you visit mostly? I'm always on the look out for good ones...

i tend to use world of water (nr woodborough) mainly but have also bought fish from floralands at lambley. i bought my aqua one tank from brookfields on mapperley top and have bought a few fish from there as well. I always seem to get what i want from one or the other so i've never needed to go to pinxton though i do fancy a trip just for curiosity.

I go to world of water a lot too, do you ever go to tall trees just 2 minutes down the road at bulcote? It's worth visiting, but I'm not sure I'd ever buy livestock from there.

I've never been to the one at mapperly or floralands. I've done loads of Notts stores though, and wharf always comes out top, especially for advice.
