so I got some Aiptasia (pest anemone) in my tank and the tank is 3 days old, it came with the live rock that I bought, I removed some by burning them with a soldering iron, but I am thinking of adding some peppermint shrimp.
1- should I wait till the tank cycles...
2- will they eat my pink coralline algae?

any suggestions

Hi,

I only ran a reef tank for a little while, but I did have a peppermint. He destroyed the Aiptasia in a matter of days.

I never had any problem with them eating coraline algae?

Just make sure you get a TRUE peppermint shrimp, some LFS advertise peppermint shrimps that aren't (these other shrimps supposedly eat coral?) Do some research and have a look at pictures of true peppermints etc.....

Hope this helps.

just get an insulin needle. Usually local pharmacy will give you one, they are extremely cheap. Insert lemon juice into the aptasia. Cheaper than a shrimp. I don't like peppermint shrimp anyway.
