Well i've recently rescaped my rio 180 and now im wanting to add some red coloured plants. The good folk at maidenheads told me that there harder to keep so i've always steered clear. But now im thinking there might be one or two out there that i could keep.

The set up ive got is the original lighting and original filter. Im adding easy life carbo daily, and TPN+ weekly. Ive also got some TPN+ caps dotted around from 3-4 months ago. PH 7.2 and 28c. The plants ive got so far are:
Vallis
Amazon Swords
Sagittaria Subulata
Pygmy Chain Sword
Creeping Jenny

Is there any red plants out there that would suit this set up?

Cheers

You're welcome. If you got any more questions feel free to ask... Tropica website is useful to see whether the plants are suitable for low levels of lighting.

You might want to consider increasing the TPN+ and doing it daily rather than weekly. How much do you dose in a week?

I add 20ml on a saturday after a 50% water change. How much do you think i should be adding?

Im thinking about trying one of the Ludwigia after seeing yours and ians. Probably the repens, as the aquarium-gardening site says its easier.

Cheers

EDIT: Just noticed that on the aquarium-gardening site theres two repens. Ludwigia repens RUBIN and Lidwigia repens. I think i'll try the rubin as its classed as a foreground/middleground plant on the site, which is where ive got a bit of space in my tank.

I think mine is the repens 'rubin' variety lol.

I put in 6ml everyday of TPN+ and my tank is th 130ltr one. although its more like 110!

Remember the ludwigia is only pinkish/red on the underside of the leaves when it recieves enough lights/nutrients. There are other plants that might be more visible...

I might up mine then. How does 5ml a day sound and then increase as the plants mature and grow?

Do you think the 5ml easylife carbo a day is ok?

Yea i did noice that, but im thinking i should start with the easiest option first. If it all goes to plan than i'll try one of the other Ludwigia's.

Cheers

Sounds good. I dose 5ml of the easycarbo as well and my tank is smaller than yours... So yea as things mature see how it goes and if you need more it should help :good:
