Since I put sand in my tank today it looks stunning so tomorrow im going to switch my 20 gallon krib tank over to sand from gravel, ive got 1 20kg bag of play sand, will this be enough and how much of it should i put (ie. how many inches up)?

Will kribs and the gourami prefer sand? also I would like to get some corys when I put the sand, whats the most active, playful, smallest cory?

Not sure if kribs and gourami prefer sand, but be careful if you put corydoras in with kribs. they both like the bottom portion of the tank, and as you know breeding kribs can be evil. i personally mixed the two in a 180l without any issues, but have heard some horror stories since.

You could consider pygmy corys, they like to be in groups of at least 10 and spend time swimming around the water as well as shuffling through sand.

If the tank was bigger you could add 6 normal corys (panda are smallish) BUT breeding kribs in a 20 gall might not like the extra activity around them.

I could put the kribs in with my yellow bellied slider? Or is that just a tasty lunch for him, the yellow belly is only a baby though and is not going to be in a 60 gallon forever.

No not exactly, some will take the occasional gulp from the surface though. Not so much an occurrence in well oxygenated tanks.

Yes, they can swim to the top of the tank to breath air from the surface. I remember reading that it is an adaption to allow them to live in waters with low oxygen levels. Not quite the same as labyrinth fish though.
