I have a juwel trigon 190 community setup at the moment
With jbl manado substrate and i am wanting to turn my aquarium
In to a Malawi setup i know that rift lake setups are rock and sand
But i was wondering if i would have to swap out the substrate also i know
Malawi's are messy fish my filtration is a allponds solutions external filter
I think its the 1400 model without the uv steriliser and turns the water 1000l per hour i think
Would this filter be enough.
Any help would be great thanks

'Mbuna' are beautiful and fascinating fish to keep, I kept them for many years in the past and found them relatively easy as I live in a hard water area (The Chilterns).

The set up you've described should be fine, with as much rockwork as you can provide.

All fish are messy eaters, keep them lean and mean... they should always be hunting for food !

Edit...I used coral sand substrate and Tufa.
