I sent in a complaint last week about my local walmart on walmart.com about the fish at my location (they were selling dyed fish; pacus, bichirs, oscars, and other large fish; and were keeping incompatible fish with each other i.e. gouramis and tiger barbs). I just got off the phone with the manager of the location and he actually offered me a job 3-times a week after school from 3:30-6 PM maintaining the tanks for them at $8 an hour.

Lol congrats that would be great and Im sure many fish keepers will love ya for it :D

that is if you accept the job :\

yeah its really bad. actually i moved so i dont got a wal-mart on this little island. but yes they are very bad. This one time i went to get a fish and took a browse at some of the goldfish, the moors and lionheads were kept in this small 5 gallon tank and there was tons and tons of them, and all of them had some kind of fungus on there lips! i told the fish person and he just shrugged and got me my fish  wal-mart should hire experinced fish keepers!

Not only am I taking the job, but I get a 20% discount on all of their fish and pet products.

I was in a walmart a few weeks back and looked to see what fish they had. They had some glolight zebra danios, which look pretty cool. The problem is that there was about 150 of them in roughly a 10G tank. The horror stories are endless.

Yeah, I work at a Wal-Mart here in Maine (In the Tire-Lube Express department) and the fish section can be pretty bad. At my store it's not horrible, it really depends on the store itself. In my store we have a couple of people who work part time who really know their stuff and are trying to get things in the department turned around.

I just can't wait to find a new job....I hate Wal-Mart!!!

Hey, you may have to, if they see what you've written on here.

It shows, the only way for supermarkets like this to improve the quality of their fishkeeping departments is to employ knowledgable staff!

Nice one on the job!

Yeah, knowledgeable staff is key to a good fish store but what experienced hobbyist wants to work for $7.35 an hour (if you're lucky) at Wal-Mart?
