THATS alot of OCEAN ROCK :D

Nice job there Go Fish :good:

are the plants real or plastic?? if they are real, they may not last long - you might want to sort out a saftey in numbers attitude to it or maybe tie it to some ocean rock as the malawis could easily dig them up

Thanks Druchii - yes the plants are real (annubias) - I expect them to disappear, but didn't just want to throw them out from the community set-up.

The CCS is MUCH shallower at the mid and rear of the tank - just quite deep at the front.

Too much rock???

That is a lot of rock!! Just a personal opinion but if it was mine I'd maybe take the middle down a little so you've got high sides and lower middle. Also just wondering if maybe the sand is a little too deep? Otherwise very nice tank. :good:

Cheffi - are there any photos on here of your tank(s) - would be good to get a few ideas!!

Thanks!

I haven't got any recent photo's of my tank as I've just taken a load of rock out ready to put a new background on, but I'll post one soon as it's all sorted or should I say when. I'm not looking forward to redoing it :-(

that looks cool and just think when your first fish hold you can join the wet elbow club, i take it no one metioned a holding female does not want to caught so all rock has to come out, welcome to cichlid keeping :good:

LOL - thanks! I think the female and the fry will have to take their chances as I am not intending on setting up another tank ..... yet .... :D

The Anubias should be ok , I`d plant them a bit more naturally maybe coming out of the holes in the rocks ? Rather than laid out uniformally along the front.

Great job BTW looks fantastic.

Yes, you are right - the plants do look tooo uniform. What is the best way of securing them in some of the holes in the rocks? Will the roots attach to rock?

Thanks

go fish that is a great looking tank! the rock looks really good but then i like alot of rockwork in tanks, especially when they look that good.

keep the pics coming :good:

Hey go fish

Great looking job so far.
I agree with nick about the Anubias. The plants will not root onto the rock (like java fern and bogwood) so I can only see them being easier to move by the fish then in the crushed coral. If it was me, I would plant four of the plants in the one corner and the remaining one a little bit out from them.

Also I agree Cheffi and you should stagger the top line of the rocks to make them look uneven. And other thing that I would do would be to take of that planted background and replace it with a plain black one. If the existing one is a typical aquarium background most of the time they are black on the reverse side so all you have to do is turn it around. (money saving tip)

Keep the pics coming in.

I tied mine on but it didn`t last long, nets/thread/elastic bands can be used, the roots need to be in the water anyway not in the substrate , I would just wedge them in between the rocks.

I think they will root onto rock as I`ve seen them available to buy like that (Might be wrong though).
