The tank looks really super, you did a great job of it, where abouts is the tank situated, is it in a communal area or in teaching area or something like that, just curious.

Its in the main lobby of the College. Its where students and visitors meet, there is a study area attached, and a rack containing the class photos of every single class of students to ever attend the college of veterinary medicine is found directly across from the fishtank. The lobby is also the center of many activities throughout the year. The lobby is named "The Fish Tank Lobby" because the fishtank has been there almost as long as the college. So you can see why we wanted the tank to be more a source of pride and less of an eyesore. I just hope that students in the years to come continue to maintain the tank in a manner that keeps it looking as nice as it does now.

:hyper: that looks fantastic. just goes to show what is achievable with a good plan. i love the mirrored background as well it really makes the plants stand out beautifully (it'll also do you the world of good by reflecting any "lost" light back in to the tank)

what fertalisation methods are you using out of interest? apart from the substrate, you obviously have that covered with the eco complete.

Wow ! :hyper: What a gorgeous large planted tank. Love it

We have some flourish in the fridge, but I'm 99% sure we haven't figured out a dosing plan yet. The lighting is about 2 WPG, so we're really hoping that everything sort of balances out over the next few months.

If you have suggestions that would fit with a weekly maintenance schedule, I'd love to hear them...

are you using co2 or not? if so yeast or pressurised? that will have a huge effect on uptake rates. no co2 and you may get away with just a general liquid fert like flourish. if you are adding co2 the nutrients will be sucked out of the water fairly quickly and will need replacing.

Nope, no CO2. If someone wants to add that in the future, then they can mess with it. I think its more than we can handle right now, so we're going with the low light low maintenance route...
