Very Sick Oto

Mhmmm. And I saw him again on the side of the tank, and it looks like the inside of his mouth is bloody, too. Looks painful.
I'll get back here if there are any changes, good or bad.
Thanks.

I would issolate him if you can something not right, gill flukes can effect the mouth area when you feed the fish does it spit the food out.
Is the fish mouth open like it has got something stuck in the mouth.

Could he be rasping on the heater? It may be a burn

Otherwise its bacterial

No, doesn't look like something is stuck. And I;ve watched him eat algae, and his belly is quite plump.
It is a quarantine tank, so bare bottom, no plants. New fish, just a keyhole cichlid from a nearby LFS. Possibly the problem, but the cichlid appears to be very healthy.
As for the heater thing, that is possible, but to me it looks more like the blood is on the inside.
I would vote on bacterial, but it could be gill flukes, too.

Just a question, if I have to, will Maracyn Two have any bad effects on Prazipro? I would like to finish the Maracyn Two, but I'm asking just in case there's a real emergency. Thanks.

I agree is does sound like septicemia but parasites can cause bactrial infections on top.

I just had a quick look, and he does look better, like the blood is receeding/wounds are healing. Wish him luck!!

Just an update, the oto is looking a lot better. I think 'he' is a 'she' lol. Body shape and the like suggests that.
Anyway, she is really coming along great, and I really hope her dear little life has been saved.

Thats good news bless her.

She is completely back to normal. So weird lol.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your help, and she thanks you all too.
