I would like to know if cuccumbers are good to give the Cichlids. I heard they love that stuff! However I have another concern, What do you do with the remaining cuccumber? Do you scoop it out or will the fish eat all of it?

I also have another concern. I am leaving for a filed trip for 3 days will my fish survive without being fed? If not is there an automatic feeder and are they worth purchasing?

I am also planning to add another 4 fish (I have 4 right now) Should I wait and add them when I return or will they be ok during my absence?

I would wait till you get back to add your new fish so you can keep an eye on them ....And im not sure about leaving them for 3 days as i have never kept cichlids but iknow my fish are ok to leave ..... and also once they have finished with the cucumber i would take out what is left as you don't want it rotting.

It was recommended that I give my Barbs some blanched Cucumber but they didn't touch it. Should I have left it for longer so they realised what it was. How should I prepare it so they can best enjoy it (peel it ? take the pips out etc??).

I have 5 clown barbs and 1 fiilament barb....i dont give them cucumber as they just stick there noses up at it .

But they do like peas and with the peas i just soak them in a little warm water and take the shells off and pop it into the tank They love it
