Well, out of my 9 Variatus fry, 7 were males. They have been seperated from the females for a couple of months now, and have been growing up in the 30g growout. They'll be moved to the 90g next week, but they have grown up so well! I got a few semi-good shots of them today, so here's some of my little ones.

I apologize for the yucky pictures, they are fast little dudes! They also look a lot better bigger, but I didn't want to kill the dial-uppers.

Lovely little fish.I just think the variations in colour in platy are fantastic.
Now for the nosey part-Whats that plant in the background in the second shot?

Yeah. Variatus Platies have to be amoung my favorite Livebearers. Especially the Hi-Fin ones. I have one male going towards that now. I don't think he'll be full Hi-Fin, because none of his brothers are, but he's got a nice dorsal fin on him.

Now for the nosey part-Whats that plant in the background in the second shot?
A fake one.

Very nice I wish I could find some of the same color type as yours. I am very fond of the, I geuss you call it tuxedo?

Some people call them Black Strawberry Variatus, but most places call them Tuxedo Variatus. The place I got the parents from called them Sunburst Tuxedo Platies. So many names for such a tiny fish! :S The two females I got out of the batch are looking more like Strawberry Variatus. Perhaps they are a mixture. These fry came out much brighter and more colorful then their parents, while the females came out duller.

If you are in the US, and are willing to have them shipped, try That Pet Place. That's where I got mine, and everytime I go there they have some in. They have an online store at www.thatpetplace.com .

Nice llooking babies anna. How old are they. I wish i could afford to use a 29 gallon as a grow out, sadly enough, thats the best i could do for a community lol.

Very beautiful babies you have there. I had no idea there were so many gorgeous colors of platies!

Very nice fry, Annastasia!

Someday I will have to post some of my sword fry: :hey:

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! :D

LF - I'm sure a big grow out will come in time. They were born on October 24th and November 15th. So some of them are over 3 months, and the others will be 3 months in 2 days. :)

darkmerlin21 - Thank you! Yep, Platies come in lots of great colors. They are being crossed a lot now too, so even more unique and beautiful colors should be appearing. I saw a red/white speckled Hi-Fin the other day....how I wanted him. :X

Fawnmodel - Thanks! Yes, I'd love to see some of your Swordies! I'm waiting on my Koi Swordies to have some fry...they are taking their sweet time too.
