I will be gone for over 2 weeks in June on vacation and I was concerned about what to do about the pool sand in my tank. I usually stir it around alittle each week to break up any pockets that may be in it, but I don't want to trust anyone else to do it for me and they probably wouldn't do it. I will get someone to help top off my tank water (how often should they do this?), will leaving sand for a little over 2 weeks be to dangerous for the fish?

Sorry cant help with this but very interested to know, do you HAVE to stir sand in a tank? what happens if you dont? i have recently set-up two tanks with sand and didnt know about this stiring thing ?

It will be fine for such a short time.
There has been some dispute about the sand with trapped air in it being toxic, but i will not go there in this thread. just mentioning it incase you wish to investigate it further.

i believe unless your sand is very deep then its not a real concern anyway.

My sand is about 2.5 inches in some places the tank is cycled and I syphon a little out each week trying to get aprox. 1.5 inches in depth all around.

at 1-2 inches, thats not deep enough to be a problem, go on holiday and relax :)

ive got argos play sand in all of my tanks and at fist i knew nothing about stirring up the sand, as i first read about stirring 6 months after putting the sand in and having suffered no losses and all fish nice and healthy there is still one tank that has never been stirred and has had sand i over a year now, all seems good so far so i would have thought no probs to leave for a few weeks.
