I am having a little trouble getting it set to the right level. The skimmate seems too wet to me, have tried raising it out of the water more and have played with the knob (On the Skimmer  ) but cannot get it skim dry enough.

The colour is very pale mixed with some algae (to be expected following the green water) and reading alot of other posts, seems it should be a little darker and definately dryer.

The problem is compounded by the bracket that hangs on the tank, it is very difficult to adjust the height although without the bracket it slips slightly due to the weight.

Hope I have given enough info.

There is a little mod you can do by attaching a 2" piece of airline on the little air intake nipple, see pic (recommended to me by john-o) It makes the skimmer quiet and helps efficiency.
The unit will take a while to bed in. I could never get dry skimmate with mine though it was always a dark green/brown watery gunk.

You need to get out more

I will try that mod with the airline now.

Its just that the cup is filling up very quickly at the moment and is very light in colour.

I wish I could Big C, it is driving me mad being stuck in the house. Even worse now mom has started Chemo again, she was coming round and taking me out.

I have a wonderful time planned for tommorrow, an amubulance is coming to pick me up to take to physiotherapy - oh what joy

EDIT Done that mod, really easy that one, it does seem to be alot quieter, will this affect the skimmate though??
Have just emptied cup - again, am emptying at least once a day sometimes twice.

Hi,

I think this is what happens witht he V2 skimmers. Mine took a good few days to settle in and the cup would fill very quickly whilst it was (as in maybe 8-10 hours) Nowm ine has bedded in the cup doesn't fill and i have the bubbles about 1/3 of the way up the stem but the cup still gets water in but it's VERY brown.

Hoep this helps!

I emptied the cup at 8.00 am it is a quarter full already!! I know it has to bed in but is this a bit excessive??

Dont forget the cup is really small on the 120 as well. I have to empty mine once a day and have it skimming about as dry as I can get it.

Looks better than mine right now  it was fine until today when I turned it off for a short while now its all to cock again :shout: PITA these bloody skimmers lol :p

Could be there isnt much to skim out of it. Try making sure the outlet valve is fully open and move the skimmer up a little bit more.

Will try it now.

EDIT
Do you know I am such a dozy cow at times  I had not realised how that that knob worked. I just kept turning a little trying to get the bubbles lower. Had to switch it off and take it out to raise it though, the bracket is a bit of a pain to alter, I can't budge it while its in the water

Fingers crossed
