At MA today I was talking about my new lucipinnis and was saying that it`ll be nice when they`re out and about in the tank a bit more. I got told that by putting a red LED light on in the evenings instead of the blue/moonlight one it would encourage the lucipinnis out as fish can`t see red so think the lights are off. I`ve never, ever heard of this before so wanted to ask if anyone else knows if this really is the case........Can/Do fish see red light??

well, my camera emits a red light beam when focusing, some fish react to this light and some don't

Yes Lisa, IFAIK fish can't see red. Thats why I have a red fishing net, its much easier to catch fish using it rather than a blue or white net since they can't see the red net. Regarding the red light from cameras...the fish can't see the red colour but its still a light and fish can see light...

I've been thinking of adding a low watt red light to my tank so I can see my Talking Catfish come out so while on the subject can someone advise on one.

I was thinking of a simple low energy red buld about 11 watt for a glow. Cheap & Chearfull, any advice welcome.
