what should i do ?

ive read up but unsure still soz newbie ... if i add salt how much ? how often got 64 litre tank ? will it harm my 2 corydoras/catfish or my 6 guppies ?[/color]

if i turn up temp doesnt it harm catfish ?

or if i buy solution or treatment whats best and will that harm my other fish ?

soz so many questions but dont want to loose any fish or make mistake and some things seem to conflict with what i can do .

please advise.. very worried
thanks kaz

IMO it doesnt look to be ich, was my first guess when you said whitespot. Im not 100% familiar about a white spot sickness, but im going to go do some looking up to find out.

Do not add salt as this is bad for your cory's, as for you temp raiseing it slightly slowly shouldn't hurt your fish but it will decrease the oxygen levels in your tank so be careful about that.

I'll try to give you more help soon, sorry i dont know alot. hopefully somone else helps too

EDIT: Whitespot is the same as ich just different names, and is more granual like. From what i can see from you pic i dont think it is. Ich would look more like salt specs on the fishs body and fins. Maybe im seeing a different spot than you though.

If you think it is ich there is a very good pinned topic about it in Tropical Fish Emergencies section. Take a look and if its not that let us know.

thanks i wont do anything till i no

all other fish seem ok , tetra doesnt seem unwell but just noticed a small thing on my moss ball very minuite (tiny in other words) spelling not so good looks like a cream coloured ball or egg there was 2 but catfish just came for a clean up and knocked one to floor ? , too tiny to take pic with my camera

i took a better look the white spot looks flat like its inside his clear back end fin and can be seen when he turns both sides.

so worried can someone please advice

as if its just the start wont it be better to get it before it spreads .. im very confused as i hav'nt got a spare tank and my corydoras wouldnt

do well using salt or raising temps

glowlight with spot still ok today very concerned as dont no how to treat or if i need to at all advice welcomed.

also was watching my fishes when a glowlight swam and wedged itself into the side of the nosel that repumps out the water from the filter it couldnt get back out ,then he ended up

ripping itself open as it tried to get out ,and it died how do i stop anymore doing this ? i didnt even no any could fit in there. any ideas thanks ?

Whitespot will look like the fish has been sprinkled in salt.
Has the fish just got one whiite spot on him.
How big is the spot.
Any redness to the spot.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Corys can only tolerate abit of salt.

its only one white dot it hasnt changed in 2 days so would it have altered it was the size of small grain of salt
but it doesnt really resemble salt more like a flat white spot just inside fin in fact it looks to have shrunk in size today and less white.
no redness
no flicking tail , my guppys do that is it normal for them ?

what would you recomend ?

thanks kaz x

Just keep an eye on the fish.
if its going dosn't sound like whitespot.

update on glowlight tetra

i was looking at him today fish still has spot but seemed fine then 1 hour later it looks like his tail has either been nipped or ripped there is a piece missing nothing massive .

nowhere near spot i may add thats still at the end of his body that joins his tail fin

i have male guppies ,glowlight tetras ,neon tetras, peppered corydora catfish and a shrimp could any of these have done it ?

and what should i do.

have been watching tank and its him whos bullying neons ? normally peaceful water stats fine any advice appreciated

How big is the spot now.
Any redness to the spot.
If fish haven't been nipping at him it could be a secondary infection.

thanks for asking ... spot is the same size possibly bit smaller .

no redness no change there .

the rip or nip bit is like a tiny bit nipped out but no spot near it or redness at all .

fish himself seems fine although he is bullying the neons and other glowlights if they go near his place he likes to stay ie between the arching grasses and the caves seems he

thinks its his space , is he being territorial ?
