Ok. I bought 2 Corydoras on a whim about a week ago. They are a male and female of the same breed. I bought them so they could be together :c they were in separate tanks at the pet store (idk why) and they were constantly staring at each other on opposite sides of the glass. They kept tapping their faces on it trying to get to each other :c and they were digging in the rocks and freaking out. So I bought them, but they only had an hour of air in the bag and I had to do other things before I went straight home. So they guy there held them for me until I could get them. He put them in the same tank and they stayed right next to each other the whole time until I could get them. It was so cute!! But then soon after the both got swim bladder. The female is fine now, but the male is weird....he is completely upside down and will not move. I think he's dead but I'm not sure since corycats are known to do this kind of weird thing. But I NEEED to know now, cuz if he rly is dead I can't just leave him in there with her :c she'll get so sad and stressed, but at the same time, she doesn't act like he's dead. She still swims next to him and doesn't seem troubled that he is so still and upside down... I'm really sad.I need to know. What do I do? How can I help her through this!!? Is he even dead!!? I'm seriously about to cry.

poke it a little. If it freaks out and swims away it's alive. I don't think that female will act any different if it's alive or dead. At a certain point it will just see him as food... That probably freaks you out but its nature. The gills will pump if he's alive. If he's dead they won't pump and he'll be pretty puffed out, dull, and dead looking.

I had this happen to me last night too, fish was fine when I left in the morning and when I got home from work it was dead :(
