David is right. If you want to breed your favorite male angel, you need to get at least 3 other adults. Put all of them into a new tank(or old tank completely redecorated) at the same time. The territorial aggression will be gone, and they will get along much better. Matter of fact, If you get a female or two in there with him, odds are you'll have a pair in a matter of a couple days. MOST of the time, when I've put adults in a tank together like that, I see a pair form within the first couple hours, so be sure to watch them closely at first. And just so you know, it IS possible to sex angels before they spawn, with about 90%+ success. The angels do have to be sexually mature though, and be showing their breeding vents. The female has a larger vent, longer and wider, and if the ovipositor is showing, it is very tube like, and wider mouthed than the male's genitalia. His vent will be smaller, and his "tube" will be very pointed, with a very small visible opening. Now I have been fooled a couple times by small vented females, but it's very effective in sexing a group of young breeders. I hope that helps some, and good luck, oh and DONT GIVE UP! Get you some adults and go for it! Where do you live? I have about 15 extra adults, would give you a female..... :D
Excellent, i will give it a go next weekend if my LFS has any more angels in stock

could i take my male out of his tank and put him in my second tank for a few days. Then when i have bought the other 3 put them all (all 4) back in the origional tank or will he reconise the decoration?

i dont want to re-decorate as i have it just how i want it. But do fish forget?

Cheer

Wow cheers for the offer :) i won't give up but i think posting them to England may be a bit unfair :D

I will get some more adults and watch them closely!!! I may get a divider or something just incase.

:D Hi...from the newbie... been reading your story on adding a new angel to an already made home for your male. I have three....two of which are mates and they beat on "Goldie" all of the time. I was fortunate and only bought two at a time and they just ended up being mates. The unfortuante part....My Ghost Angel lost her mate about 4 years ago ..but she's adjusted....my two newer Angels (about three years old now) are worse than rabbits!!

I do have a concern...... they keep eating their fry!!!! When I try to seperate them from the rest of the tank...they still eat them....I have removed them from the tank altogther but they end up gacking on me. Where am I going wrong? :/
