Urgent Help Needed

hi everyone, today i bought an elite 60 tank as a breeding tank or just as a fry tank.
i have brand new sand substrate 5 live plants and have put half ro filtered water in and half from my established tank.
now my question is, how long do i wait till i put the breeding pair or fry in?
i know by taking media from my old filter would speed this up, but i want to establish this new filter first, as i have added half of the tanks caacity from my established tank and the other half ro filtered water from my local fish shop will this speed up the process?

The water doesn't really matter. Taking it from your existing tank won't cycle the filter. The cycling process will probably take about 2 weeks if you go out and get some ammonia and start now. Alternatively, take some of your mature filter media from your established tank and put that in your new filter.

If you are only adding a breeding pair you should be good to go by moving some mature filter media. Just keep a close eye on your water stats and do water changes as needed in both tanks until they are stable once again.
