One of my Black Skirt Tetra's seems to be rotting away...
Last week we noticed it's mouth had a chunk missing and it's left gill was swollen and gaped open with pinky fleshy bits. So we did an immediate water change and treated the water with anti fungal treatment. It looked like the fish was improving (the swelling reduced and the pink bits disappeared) but after looking again tonight it's LOADS worse - the fish doesn't seem at all bothered, still eating and swimming, fins in perfect shape...its top lip has gone and some of it's bottom lip, you can see its teeth and the gill looks really very angry and sore, its hard to explain how it looks and I can't get a decent picture. It looks like a huge gash with white rotting bits and pink sore fleshy bits.
I'm really sorry it's a bad description, and I can't provide a pic. I also can't provide water parameters at this stage (will do tomorrow) but I can say that none of the other fish are affected whatsover, it seems totally isolated to this particular fish who happens to be one of our original very first fish. I've tried googling various diseases and nothing seems to match.
We have a 4ft community tank, with neons, a plec, a gourami, some swordtails, penguin tetras, lampeyes, zebra loaches and one molly.
Any ideas what this could be and if anything can be done?
