Urgent Help - Beaten Up Tiger

Get the one from maidenhead aquatics, aqua flow 50's about £10. They come with a spray bar!! very easy little filters to manage. can take some sponge from an existing filter and stuff it in there and just use it straight away.

I've decided to get rid of my Tigers they are simply too nippy, which is quite gutting, really nice fish but i'm not going to the effort of giving them a dedicated tank. bleh. Plus this little event you are having at the moment happens nearly every month when they fight for dominance which gets annoying!

yeah, my corys are hiding more and more and the bronze guys have had their dorsal fins nipped to buggery and although they plod along as if nothing has happend i dont think its fair on them. Its a shame as they dont bother any of the other fish at all but that might change when they get older so im not going to risk it. Time to boost the rummy nose tetras up to 60 instead. :D

Good. keep up with the water changes and he will be fine :good: I had 9 Tiger Barbs once and they were great with each other! :)

Sadly that fish didn't make it. Lessons we've learnt:
1) be familiar with the kit bought for the hospital tank before you need to use it.
2) bigger is not always better in terms of filter performance - having a sick fish pinned to the inlet side by the flow is distressing for all parties
3) get it out fast and leave alone - I fear we spent too much time fiddling
4) social fish benefit from seeing the rest of the group - it can trigger a feeding response when they see the other members of the shoal being fed
4) an empty tank maybe stressful - I've superglued a crypt to a rock for some cover. This can ne moved between tanks now :)

I've actually bought a non air pump one as I want to be able to use mature media from the main filter to instantly cycle the tank. The filter is a bit puny but it should only have to deal with a small bio load so hopefully this will be fine!
