Urgent! For Water Change

In my hot water supply I have a mix of lead, copper, and galvanized steel.

Mmmmmm, lead....

It did wonders for the Romans. :p

The supply line from the main to my meter is lead, about 5" of pipe. I'm sure that after 50 years this, as the rest of my pipes, has a nice lime scale coating, effectively sealing it. Lead, being rather soft, bends rather than cracking if the house settles.

If I'm not mistaken, the combination of lead & an acidic beverage (wine) caused them a bit of trouble. Wine generally has a pH of 4.0 or lower, I imagine if your tap water is that acidic you will have more to worry about than your fish.

what spilled into your tank if you don't mind my asking???

A huge pot of fish food, I got the floating stuff off, but loads sank almost immediately. So I siphoned it up because I didn't want to take any chances (I have 2 guppies in there going mad!)
