Urgent - Cant Start Up An Eheim 2224

just got a second hand filter with a new tank and i cant get it working. the 1st filter is a tetratech which i was able to start as i already have one. however the eheim 2224 i dont know how to get working, theres no 'starting pump' on it from what i can see, i attempted to turn it on and some whirring occured but no flow.

If it is the classic then the best way is fill the canister with water hook up the tubes but keep them closed. Then once all tubes are hooked up right open the shut off so water flow into the tubes. Then let the rest of the filter fill and turn on.

Or you can start it empty have the intake tube in the tank. Then suck out the outlet tube Till water get flowing into the canister. just let the filter fill all the way up once the filter is full turn on the filter give it a little shake to help move air out. It should work.

The key is to get the filter as full as you can before you try and turn it on.

You can even fill canister all the way. Plug in the tubes and fill the intake tube with water then once all tubes are full put them in the tank. It's tricky and annoying.
