Upgrading To A Fluval Roma 200

ok i have a 95L tropical tank and the fish are getting too big for it. so im thinking of getting one of these tanks. i would like some help with starting up. because i have a book that is a bit out of date (at the time i got it it wasnt) i would like to know what do? i want a planted tank. do you need a under gravel heater coz i did get one but do you need it? (because in the book it said you need one)

Under gravel heater? no not at all...

If you're getting the fluval roma 200 i'm sure the heater that comes with it is sufficient. You might want to think about getting an external filter or a better filter, depends on how demanding your fish are and what your stock is.

I think you could probably combine your current filter with a new filter so that the tank cycles quickly, would probably involve some waterchanges - someone else will have to help you with this though

With respect to your question about getting some help starting the tank up. Go to the Heading "Your New Freshwater tank" and read all the pinned articles and threads at the top. This will describe the basics of setting up a new tank, cycling the tank, tank chemistry, and a load of other topics. Then ask more specific questions in that section. The folks there are amazing at helping the new people along.

Congratz with the upgrade Harry! I went from my 60 Litre (which I still have) to a Fluval Roma 200. Nice tank and stand which is easily set up. It should come with a M400 heater, which is more than capable for the tank. It will probably come with a Hagen Fluval U4 Internal filter aswell, good filter but if you want a nice stock in, I recommend you get an external like you said. I currently have 2 U4 internals in mine. You could even keep the Internal in, the more filtration the better.

thanks james so what external should i buy? 205 or the 305? the 305 is a lot better but would the 205 do? the tank used to come with the 205.

I have a fluval Roma 200 with a tetratec ex1200 external filter.

Very quiet filter and all my friends comment on how crystal clear my water
is.

No worries that's a pretty decent filter anyway and will filter your tank water 5 times in an hour.
