I have currently a 5 gallon tropical tank that is running fairly nicely. I want to upgrade after keeping this for over a year, and have found a nice 10 gallon tank that comes with everything i need. What would be the best way to start this new tank up but introduce the fish i have now into the new setup? I dont want to disturb any cycle or ruin what I have now. Any suggestions would be helpful. I have a few live plants and a mixture of fish that would hopefully be swapped over.

Wash any new gravel you are adding well and just basically put everything in the 5 into the 10, letting the heater cool down first.
I take it you have a new filter for the 10? If so, run the old filter and the new one side by side and the new one will cycle in around 3 weeks.

Yeah it will have a new filter, thanks for the advice on that bit. What about filling the rest of the new tank up? Would i just use conditioned water as normal? My only worry is that the new tank will be half full and i will have to add too much of the new water.

You can add fresh to fill it up. Most of the bacteria you need is in the filter so get them both running as soon as you can.
