I upgraded my sorority tank last night; from 7.5 gallons (too small I know but I did have back up plans) to a 14 gallon tank. The girls are all really laid back and got on like a house on fire; no nipped fins or anything :) (I pick the girls really well lol, I stand like some sort of fish perv watching them for ages and if I'm not sure I'll go back and watch them again lol.

Anyway I was wondering how many I could fit in the tank comfortably? Would 7-8 be a reasonable number, or more/less?

welcome to the addiction, climb onboard :good:

53ltrs, right? I would say planted, 7, if you have any other fish in there. If it's just bettsas then 8-9 but well planted :good:

It's 54 litres. So give or take gravel/ornaments etc, about 14 gallons is the size.

I was half thinking about getting something else to go in the tank but I'm happy with my super nosey girls; so just the bettas.

The smaller tank was WELL planted lol, this one not so much. It's still got plenty in and my pond weedy stuff will take over in a week or so (I just cut it yesterday), and my twisted vallis is thriving :).

I quite like corys but I'm not sure (not sure if I want all betta or a mixture). I did see a tiny yellow girl last week (well two of them) so I wanted to see if one of them was still around this weekend; also there was a tiny blue girl (she was torn to shreds, and sooo shy looking, she was so pale); problem is I don't want another blue girl but if she is there this week then I might have to bring her home out of pitty.

I've also noticed one of my girls flaring a lot since they moved tanks :(. I guess it's establishing new terratories etc; there has been no nipping, only flaring. Also one of my girls seems to be a loner; I've had her less time but even when she was in the shop she was alone in the tank :(. She is sooo very gentle :).
