So the boys are healing up nicely from their respective illnesses (see this thread for photos of them on their last few days of treatments) and of course I wanted to update on them and their recovery + tanks.

Oliver's 5gal, sitting pretty next to my workstation (that's my new Wacom Cintiq sitting next to it, so when I'm doing my homework for school (I go to Maryland Institute College of Art for those who don't already know) Oliver keeps me company.

Oliver as usual was hamming it up for the camera.

Here's the 10gal with my corydoras catfish and Oscar. The whole group was being shy tonight of course

Couldn't get Oscar to flare today, but hopefully tomorrow he will when I try again. He was being too shy :p

Lovely set-ups. What kind of tank is Oliver in? I like the look of it...

You scared me for a sec when you said Oscar in a 10 gallon!

Nice pics, I wonder how you get work done with such a nice tank on your desk!

I agree with everything llamalord305 said. Scared me a bit when you said "Oscar".

I'd be way too distracted with a fish tank on my desk. That's why I don't do homework in my room, because that's where all my aquariums are. lol

Nicely done. :good:

Thank you! Right now trying to get the plants to fill out, stuck many of Oliver's into Oscar's tank when I was setting it up so waiting till they grow larger to trim the tops and replant. Been fertilizing, so hopefully they grow quickly.

Here's the tank's listing from Petsmart.

Ha! Yeah sometimes it can be distracting, but I like to take breaks and be able to watch Oliver dancing around to get my attention... then I put my tablet pen up to the tank wall and he flares at it, Very cute.

Yeah, you're not the first and probably won't be the last who at first was like "Wait- an OSCAR?".
Thanks so much! :)

Question: Oscar, before getting sick, was quite eager to flare. Now however he basically ignores a mirror and I even put Oliver (in a hard plastic breeding box hanging inside the tank from the front) in with him and he WILL NOT flare (Oliver on the other hand got quite excited quickly. Why do you think this is, and will he flare again? :(

my red guy got old and lazy and refused to flare after a while. may just be him getting older and settling down. if otherwise acting normally, i wouldnt read too much into it.
cheers

I hope so, but I really want him to flare. Wanna see him in all his halfmoon glory again!

 you have the same exact tanks as me!

They look great. I wouldn't worry about the lack of flaring... it always becomes increasingly difficult to excite my bettas as they get older. Could always try some live brine shrimp or a new frozen food to spark some "spunk" into Oscar. Then a mirror might work like a charm.

lol my reaction as well..... and I was a bit baffled cuz I knew Morphkid knew better than that! Although i did have a baby oscar in a 10g for a bit for treatment/quarantine... :p

BTW: IM SOOOOOOO JEALOUS OF YOUR WACOM TABLET!!!!!! NOT FAIR!!!!! :shout: blows mine out of the water.

ReMz! It's been FOREVER! So glad to see you! :D
Yeah I'm hoping he'll return to his flaring self... we'll see I suppose. :p
Don't worry, I wouldn't put an actual Oscar in a 10gal.

Haha yeah it's my baby... I am in love with it. It's my home base for working on drawings, and I have an Intuos3 for travel/classes.

On a random note- anyone know how to remove scratches from inside an acrylic tank? The inside of Oliver's tank has a bunch of scratches that are making photos look crappy and makes the water look almost cloudy in the front. :(

My Intuos 3 is my main source of digital art!!!!!! :grr: tho i've been much too occupied with biz school to pursue my art (sad right?)

Removing scratches from an acrylic tank requires complete removal all contents (including fish) and has only "meh" results. It really isn't feasible to do professionally considering how much cheaper it would be to buy a new tank. *** If somebody knows otherwise PLZ post***

glad to see u still around as always ;)
