After seeing his first ulcer turn pure white i thought fungus ok, his tail ulcer doubled in size ok no problem when i get melfix inside its ok.

I checked today and there was what looked like a worm sticking straight out of his stomach area, like a worm is trying to burrow itself in, only its not moving, directly on the other side same thing only its more of a puff.

If i look closer it looks like its comming from the inside.

Im not sure if this was just an injury gone infected anymore, think it might be some internal disease, and im daunted with the task of maybe having to destroy the ID shark in order to protect my other fish.

I dont know what to do guys, im still on route with my old plan, water changes etc but this shark looks like its hurting.

It hasnt changed the way its acting, except for its not eating anymore in my site, during the night if i come down he swims around and about but i never see him eating.

So thats my situation, if anyone can give me some advice or anything it would be greatly appreciated, i havent started melfix treatments yet because im giving a week for the tank to stabalize (high nitrate or nitrite cant remeber and low KH).

As i said i dont know anymore, ive been trying all i can to save this guy, and i feel pretty #### for not doing anything sooner or being able to give him that "miracle cure."

Can you describe the worm, does it have a forked tail.
Could be internal parasites like you say that bureid through the skin got to find out what we are dealing with.

well, i cant get the best look, it looks like it went in abit deeper and its kinda fluffy at the end, it basically looks like a white fluffy ball kinda like flesh sticking out of him.

Also i just checked the water, and my nitrate level is at 10 after a recent water change the 3rd ive done this week, wondering if i should start applying the meds or not, aswell i read in the book that nitrate level of 40 was reccomended? that was the level that was apparently high?

I dont know to much about the levels so when you get on or anyone else can tell me like safe levels or what, cause im hearing different numbers from different places.

It won't hurt to start the meds actually it might hurt if you don't your water reading are fine. Keep us updated on his progress. :good:

Best to keep nitrates under 50, best to check you tap nitrate reading then you know what to aim for.

Its been 2 days and i know its to early but ill update anyway.

He doesnt seem to be getting worse, inface the places here the fungus like whatever it was stuck out of the skin is slowly turning red.

I think it might be a good sign that the white stuff is being cured and the red is well any other injury cause by whatever it is that infected him, all the other fish after about 2-3 weeks of him having it, are fine, none have shown any sighn of infection.

Im keeping em in there just incase they did contract it, i fugure melfix will cure them or help them heal aswell even though no outside symptoms have been showing, ive also applied some aquarium salt to speed up the process.

Anyway an update, any comments would be cool.

Oh and the levels in my tap for nitrate etc, are 0, no need to check since i live in the biggest city in Toronto regulations are to keep it at 0, they test it pretty much every day so im putting my faith in Torontos pump stations hahaha.

Alright, later guys. Igor.

I would medicate now.. doesn't sound great though

Yeah it was 2 days of meds but, i wake up this morning run down, cant find him anywhere then i see him lieing on the gravel to the far left of the aquarium.

Oh well i tried as much as i could, the only thing thats scaring me is i found the pleco sucking on him, i kinda moved him away (doesnt seem to be scared of me). All that white fungus or other crap was gone, so im afraid he mighta eaten it or something, or even if he ate abit of him still worries me.

Gonna be continuing the treatment for the reccomended time just incase any other fish got it, and for sure now since the pleco got some close contact.

Alright, thanks for all the help, Igor.
