Hey guys,

Thanks for all the help. The Planaria problem is going away, slowly but progressively. I had to up the dose, as the half dose really wasn't doing much. I checked the sides of the glass today, and there are way less! Hopefully it will get rid of all of em'

Thanks again,

DL

Hey discus lova,
Just wondering what are you dosing with? I am having a slight problem with them in one of my tanks, just want to see how other people are handling it.

Drew,

I am using Aquari-Sol. It is a pretty weak medication, so it is pretty good for more sensetive fish. It's main ingredients is Copper. I was using a half dose, and didn't see too much of an improvement, so I decided to go full strength, and it's helping a lot. I haven't seen a Discus flick in so far.

If you have Planaria then you simply need to stop feeding for 3 or 4 days and do some maintenance, hoover the tank gravel, decor etc and make sure that there is no foods stuck anywhere.

Planaria wont cause your discus to flick on things.. Parasites will.

I don't honestly think that this was being caused by parasites on the fish. First off, I didn't see any, and second I saw the planaria on them! It would be irritating feeling stuff crawling all over you wouldn't it?! Either way, It doesn't really matter, as long as they stay not flicking, and the Planaria goes away. I have been cleaning out the filter, so I think thats been helping too.

I don't think you'd normall see parasites on them.. If you saw little white worms on them, they were probably some sort of parasitic worm, not planaria.

Not always true, at least about it being caused by overfeeding. If you see my other thread on my worm problem you will see I had a tank that was brand newly setup (washed and cleaned beforehand). The tank had no plants or anything added to it and housed a betta (it was a 29 gallon tank I use for spawning). I never ever fed the tank once, didnt add anything, pretty much did nothing and I woke up to find worms all over the tank. Still a mystery as to how they got there to this day. I havent fed the tank since (been about two weeks) and there are still a few.
