Update On My Pregnant Platy.

Today Im around $450 with all my new plants and supplies! :D

It might be an expensive hobby but its a fun one. Started last year after my friend bought me a betta which died within 2 weeks then I got Lucifer who I have had for a year. :)
 
I attend the ALA convention every year so my hobby may cost me that $450 each year, but without that trip it would be a lot cheaper. Where do you spend all that cash? I figure a tank costs me about $1 to $2 each month and most of that is the lights and heat. Fish are a net cost near zero between what I sell and what I buy at club auctions. Fish food is often available at club auctions so that I can get enough for all of my 26 tanks to last about 3 months for around $10. Real plants are not a cost, they are stock to sell at the auctions. Plants reproduce fast enough to help out with my fish food costs.

The tank was $150, had to buy a new filter $40, new heater $20, and a lot of fish

Yeah fishkeeping is great! I just looked online for the plants that I still have to buy and thats an added cost of around $60! XD

Its still fun though. ;)
 
Mines been expensive thus far because I've bought tons of supplies, fish, and 3 tanks. I'm going to add up all my receipts then add 50 or so for lost receipts and see what o get.
 
Just an update! I have just spent $60 right now to buy 2 moneyworts and 5 hair grass bunches (most of it was shipping :lol:). XD
 
Lol I can believe that. I just added all my receipts up and it's $700ish in total and at least $500 was all my money.
 
That sounds about where Im at, $500. Was that for both of your tanks? I spent $450ish on just my 10g! XD
 
It is for my 29 gal and stand my 10 gal (already had a stand) my 5 gal (on my desk) an empty 10 gal (in a closet to use as a qt) and all my supplies thus far. (and fish)

But my dad bought me the 10 gal for my birthday. It's my fry tank. Also my avatar :)
 
Well, it seems that I may be going overboard! xD
