well ive had a few inquiries about this plant since i purchased it a little while back. I thought i would share my experiences so far. i purchased the Fissidens Sp from malaysia off ebay. arrived perfectly fine and i also got some round pelia. the fissidens i would have to reccomend to anyone who loves plants that cover like moss. it is a really slow grower but i can see growth and its nice and healthy. im not sure how many people have bought this same plant since there are a few varieties up for sale. this one however is highly reccomended if you ask me.says its a rare plant but it is also very pretty.it comes in pretty small portions though. mines was like a 2x2 inch square for around 20dollars shipped......dan

if i could i most certainly would.
by the way im in the states. california also to be exact.
but if it wasnt such a slow grower i would be happy to share some with.
im running 130watts over a 29g w.EI and eco-complete and its still a slow goin. hardy little bugger i will say though. wish i woulda got 2 orders of that instead of the pelia.

I've been looking at some of the fissidens sp too - I assume you bought off Aquatic Magic as they seem to be the people who are supplying them off ebay and that US based aquatic auction site.

The fissidens fontanus  and the mini-pellia  look gorgeous to me, but the cost, oh the cost!

Shame you aren't in the UK...

Pictures please!

indeed i got it from aquaticmagic. i will post some pics as soon as i can. its still gettin used to my tank so the new growth is just starting to appear.

Thanks for the thread Dan, Ive often looked at it and thought it looks like a nice little moss. Excellent that you're having a bit of a plant journal, will keep an eye on this for sure :) Its always easier to find out people exact experience of plants rather than having to go on the vagueness of web-shops.

no prob Sam. thanks for the interest and reply. i know how much enthusiasm you have for this hobby. you have done much for the folks here. hope i can do some of the same. dan

ok i tried to take a few pics. i must say i have no business doing this because i cant operate a camera for squat. i cant get away from this green look i seem to get from my light when i try to take pics. oh well its not like im gonna enter an aquascape contest any time soon.

oh you can also see some of the pelia at the other end of the fissidens. like i mentioned hasnt taken off at all really.

I am will keep a eye on this as was gonna get some fissidens but was outbid from AMagic.

He is a very Nice person to deal with as have bought from him in the past.
Postage to the Uk is also reasonable as well from him.

Cheers for the pics, interesting to see it. Was it easy to work with when attaching it to the log?

Sam

yah this seller was very good to deal with. Sam it was fairly easy to put on. came like a small square of sod. i just laid it on and wraped it with thread. you can see where the new growth is coming in since its starting to get acclimated to my tank. its really alot greener than it looks here. the new growth is just starting to come in.

I have a little a friend got in Asia, is it supposed to stick to the wood like moss do you know? its really a beautiful plant I think, it is growing very slowly in my low light.

I just bought some of this for £3 off aquatic magic and was wondering the same as the last poster. does it eventually attach ?

I also bought some 'mini' pelia too as I am quite bored of seeing Riccia everywhere.

I think once the Riccia craze started going everybody has it and now its all over ebay too. Quite bored of the stuff myself

Please give us some more info on the fissiden once it attaches or doesnt whichever it may be

Andy

i will keep you posted on attaching itself. i dont really see a root type structure that attaches but it seems to be staying on the log where its tied. even if it didnt attach itself i think you can just tie it on where you want it and it will eventually grow over the thread. it seems to be creeping along the wood and staying attached though. when the wood was standing straight up it still seemed to stay on and in place...dan
