hey my LFS has some of these!

P.S. dont get mad and say its not possible... cause i was almost gonna buy one... but i had no clue what it was.. neither did the store this lady brought in a bunch of them! there are like 5 of them
How much do they cost at your lfs?

well they are $3 right now cause no one knows what they are! but now i do... BUT im gonna do what i did for the endlers hehe im gonna continue to let them believe that they are a weird type of gourami hehe (btw with the endler move i let them believe that they were a feeder fish so i could get 12 endlers for 12 dollars!)

No, they would only come in one color, but the colors tend to go dull and/or brighten up depending on their mood. When they breed they are just absolutely gorgeous (judging by my kapuas mind you)

I like the idea of several pairs living in one tank. It was also interesting to read the bit about a female preferring to see other fish around while breeding so she has something to defend the male against  Awesome.

I have always loved the different Betta species.

I had a Betta bellica for a couple days...unfortunately, he came sick from the store and didn't last very long. And I had a very sweet little male Betta brownorum for probably about 6 months, but he was old (the store had him for more than six months), and his immune system couldn't defend him against a nasty case of ich, even with the help of meds.

I'm TRYING to get my hands on other species, but I can never find any that don't cost a fortune I'm not able to pay.

Oooo, brownorum are pretty too
Albimarginata and brownorum are probably my two fave wild species... I wish my LFS stocked interesting fish like that, but they just keep ordering the same ol' kinds

I'm half-desperate to find a breeding pair of Betta brownorum. I absolutely adored that little guy. He was so shy, and spent most of his time sleeping inside his little tiny round pot, and he NEVER ate flakes, pellets, or anything but live and frozen food, but he was one of the cutest little fish I've ever had. I was always looking for a mate for him, and could never find one.

I want a pair of Betta imbellis, too. Been looking for them for ages, and been virtually begging the fish store on the other side of the valley (big valley, mind you, and I drive there every week) to order them in for me. So far...no luck. The owner THOUGHT she had some, and was so proud that she had gotten them for me, but they turned out to be Croaking Gouramis....
