Hi

I have seen for the first time this morning that 2 of my fish have clearish poo with white sections in it.

I have no idea what this is, please can someone advise.

Thanks in advance

Chris

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
What do you feed the fish.

Could be anything from constipation, bacterial infection, internal parasites.

Feed some frozen cooked shelled peas to see if that clears it up.

Hi Wilder

Amm = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 5
pH = 7.8

90 litre tank

Contents

1 bulldog pleco
6 Zebra Danios
6 neon Tetra
2 Red Platies
1 male betta
2 peppered cory
1 german blue ram
2 rams
2 cockatoo cichlids (pair)

The platy are the ones with the wierd poo.

Feed
tetra prima
tetra pro (nrg crisp)
plecomin for the bulldog

frozen brine shrimp or daphinia once a week

In the past i have feed them pea once a week but have not done so for about 3 weeks.

I have seen a couple of the others occasionally flick.

No spitting of food.

erm, not sure what else i can tell you.

Feed some shelled peas.
If no improvement you might need to use an internal wormer med.

Hi Wilder

The pea seemed to do the trick. Thanks

While at the LFS yesterday, I discussed the problem with the only guy their i trust. He flet that as i was feeding prima and pro that they may be taking in too much protein, leading to consitpation (the platy's are really greedy). He suggested that i only continue to feed tetra pro, not both.

Sadly, thought this moring my German ram looks to be gasping for air near the bottom of the tank. Amm and Nit are both 0, so not that. Ive increased the aeration in the tank and increased the temp to 30 from 28.

Any thoughts ???

Also added some aquarium salt

Gasping can be anything from bad water quality, bacterial, parasites, ph shock, toxins, overdose of meds, lack of aeration.

Any symtoms to go on.
Like being bloated, red inflamed gills.

Do a water change.

Your tanks on the overstocked side.
What test kit are you using.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Until today, no symptoms. Today, gasping near the bottom and hiding in the flower pots. Occasionally, coming out for a swim, maybe a quick chase with the other rams.

I have tested today, same results as earlier in this thread. Tested with API master kit.

I have been treating my betta for finrot, using protozin by waterlife. Last dose was on wednesday. But will be moved to another tank within the next 2 weeks.

Not going to be able to change water until tomorrow night.

Ok.
Dilute the med down. It could be that.
Why are you using a parasite med for finrot. You really need myxazin by waterlife.

sorry that was the one i'd been using, got the names confused, just went downstairs to check.

So a water change will dilute it down im guessing.

:good:

Myxazin by waterlife has m green as an ingredient.

Try a water change to see if that helps him. If it dosn't get back to the board.
Have you increased aeration with the med?

Bless Him.
darkening in colour can mean a number of things from parasites to bacterial.

Is he still gasping alot.
How much of a water change did you preform.
