well today i was just watching my tank when i saw a tiny fish swim past at the back where another one was chasing it. i grabbed my net breeding tank and managed to get it out. this was in my big tank.
What i dont understand is the fish who are pegnant are in my smaller tank. ive been watching them all for about an hour now and have no idea which fish this little one came from. it about just over a mm long and is swimming happily.
i did think my platy was pregnant but not enough so to give birth.
this happened to nyone else? or have any tips for caring for this ONE fry.

i just put in a drop of liquifry 2 so thats taken care of. i added a little bit of plant and ive also turned the light off so it wont get overheated.
still unaware of where it came from.
thanks for the advice.

I think a description of the fish in question and a list of other fish in the tank would help ;) It doesn't have to come from a livebearing fish, it could be possible that it is from an egg-laying fish.

The same thing just happened to me last week! Except it was a tank I had just cleaned out and converted to tropical!!! I was very surprised to find him! He is a goldfish mix, and I have named him Braveheart.

I put him in a goldfish bowl for now (He was free swimming when i found him) and have been alternating feeding him finely ground goldfish flakes & freshly hatched baby brine shrimp (so easy to do!) about 3X a day. Additionally, I have been doing 50% water changes daily with a turkey baster... and I bought him a widdle plant for his bowl, lol.

Anyways, I will be keeping him in the bowl for another week... possibly two if anything wonky happens w/my tank... and then he will be going into a net nursary. I picked on up the other day at the LPS for $5.

It is SO neat watching him grow! I think he will maybe have 2 tails like mom... (dad is a single tail) :)

I hope you have fun with yours too!

ok in my big tank i have one male guppy and five females, 1 platy,1 dwarf gourami and 2 bristlenose plecos.
And in my smaller tank 2 pregnant guppies and now the lil fella in a breeders net
I has not long done a water change, had gone to eat my tea came back up and there he was.
the only thing my mum could think of was we moved one of the bristlenose plecos from the small tank to the big tank so maybe it did come from one of the pregnant guppies. Though they are still both big and with no other fry in that tank either.
