Unexplained Fish Loss Setup Diary Logs Included

David0121: your readings are not fine. Nitrites over 0.25 ppm are too high. You are well past due for a large water change. I would do no less than 50% if you want to slow the fish deaths.
Loui354, please read up on fish-in cycling here on our site. A reading of 0.3 ppm nitrite is not a mere detail, it is the essence of being too high.

That's another water change 90% this time,
test results are as follows -:

Water Test

Date -: 01/05/2011
Time -: 19:00
Temp -: 27.2
Ammonia-: Nil
Nitrite-: <0.3
Nitrate-: 0

also added some Filter Start to the tank due to the size of the water change,

I will never ever use a bottled bacteria in order to cycle a Fish Tank,

Please advise if anymore action should be taken,

Many Thanks

David

Filter start is useless too. Keep testing your water and do whatever water changes it takes to reduce your chemistry to less than the first value of you test kit for nitrites and ammonia. Each test kit has a different value for the minimum detectable level but just keep your levels below that value and you should do fine.

Please take note of Oldman, water changes are the way to go. Even with three very well established tanks, the larger the water change the better. The fish soon get used to it, as you will notice, fish get used to feed times etc and as they are effectively living in their own toilet. Just imagine how you would feel if you had to live in one room with no ventilation or cleansing facilities. You would soon become ill. Unless you have a filtration system that requires no maintenance, (I've never heard of one)then good maintenance is the key to good fish health. Don't give up, we have all made mistakes, mainly bad info from LFS. I have learned so much from this website. Keep going :good:

Ok,

we are now on day 26 and my water details are as follows -:

Date-: 02/05/2011
Time -:16:45

Ph-:7.5
Ammonia-:0
Nitrite-:<0.3 Less Than 3
Nitrate-:Nil

Thank you all, for the help and support.
