So I just moved my (very aggressive) Zoe to her own tank (2.5 gallon) and it's right next to Blueberry Fishkin's tank. Blueberry Fishkins apparently hasn't been that close to a lady since birth and he's acting..well he's acting "a fool" . She's flirting and he's going nuts..but I was wondering...now that he's taken a break from flaring at her non-stop going "LOOK, I'M OVER HERE, LOOK HOW MUCH I CAN FLARE! WATCH THIS!!!!!!!!!" He's now just staring at her (or so it seems) and he's breathing pretty heavy. I haven't noticed this before and water conditions and temp are all fine. I've seen little boys like him get excited, but never huff and puff. I'm assuming he just wore himself out and is now realizing he's out of shape..and he doesn't seem to have any other outward signs (other than being girl crazy), but I wanted to make sure it wasn't something to worry about. I'm about to go to bed and these kids have full view of each other, although it's about to be lights out for them. And I also can't watch him much longer since I am about to fall asleep typing this (I won't admit that I will prob get up 4 times to check on him throughout the night). Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

They're in seperate tanks right beside eachother?
You could always just place a piece of paper between them to give them a break every once in a while.
Your guy is probably just excited and wore himself out.
I know the first week I had my bettas in their tank.. they did nothing but flare at eachother and follow eachother through the divider. Specially my girl. She always had her nose stuck to that thing watching the male.
But now that they've gotten used to eachother.. they'll flirt a little and then go about their merry little way heh.

O, well that does make me feel better, thank you! He was ok when I got up this morning, and actually, even in the dark, they were gazing...

Yes, their tanks are side by side. Thanks for the advice! :good:

Yeah sounds like he just wore himself out, silly boy! He's out of shape, needs to go to the gym  No but seriously, I'm sure hes fine, a few more days of flaring at the lovely lady and he should stop huffing and puffing. Though I agree it's a good idea to put a piece of paper between them so they can take a break once in awhile.

Ok, I will do it, thanks!

Wanna know something very pathetic? My husband is off today so I just called him and asked him to check on the 2 lovebirds. He laughed and said "you are calling me to check on your bettas?" It took me a minute to realize what I was doing. But I really don't see anything crazy about it, that's the worst part..
