I've been dosing Ei ferts and pressurized co2 and have hit the stage of diatoms. It's really terrible though, I wasn't expecting this much nastiness, I'm starting to worry that my "balance" is not right. My lights are on 8 hours, will decreasing light help at all?

I am scrubbing my wood with a toothbrush during water changes but all of my plants are coated, I rub it off the broad leaves but there isn't much I can to for the other plants like rotala or hairgrass.

Any suggestions?

Ok. I'll keep scrubbing and then avoid looking at my aquarium till it's over :good:

Doatoms will eventually go, if you want to and can fit shrimp in there, get some Amanos, they love the stuff.
