Two Tiny Thin Red Things Hanging Out Of Platy's Butt.

Today, I went to the store across the street, and when I came home I noticed that my Green Lantern had a little redish ball coming out of his butt. It came off, but I can see two tiny tiny red thread like things hanging out. What could this be? They are too small for my camera to pick up, but I can see them clearly.

Most likely the fish had something wrong with it's intestines, would be strange for it to break off. but if it was just hanging there and nothing came off i would say that its that. Haven't heard that the intestine could rip and be that.
now for the red strings it could be poo and its waiting to be dropped.
keep the water clean, hope your tank is cycled etc etc. keep the water maintenance up. make sure you don't feed it for a few days, then a slight feeding in the morning then wait a day or so to feed again. you don't want to stress the digestive track.
or it could be an internal parasite that the fish crapped out and small bits of it is hanging on. just a thought.

Sounds like camallanus worms. Levamisole HCL is effective. So are some of the parasite meds.

They disappeared after I did a water change. I also added another cave for the fish to hide in.

You need to treat for camallanus worms, when you see them hanging out of the fish they are dispersing eggs, once done they disappear back inside the fish.
